Custodians of the earth
The farm consists of about 27 hectares of land with 3 hectares of vineyard, 1000 square meters of vegetable garden, 1000 square meters of orchard, medicinal herbs. We have sown one hectare of ancient wheat: half hectare of gentil rosso and half hectare of senator cappelli. Biodynamic agriculture was immediately adopted in our farm, following principles that come from afar, but applied in a simple and rational way. Cultivating the land without the use of chemistry is a lot, but it is no longer enough. We believe that a new way of respecting the land, plants and animals is needed: it is the principle of care.
Walking and working on foot in the vineyard forces man to measure himself against the rhythms of the countryside, with silences, with defeats, with the emotion of smelling the scent of the flowers in the vineyard, with the joy of picking grapes with friends on days of work and holidays.
From this energy five new biodynamic wines are born, one Albana, Barbera vinified in amphora and one vinified in steel and a pignoletto ( surlie) which belong to our valleys and which have been restored after they were processed and grown by our grandparents.
My body is the earth.
Land fertility and human well-being
In our farm, biodynamic agriculture has been put into practice from the beginning, following principles that come from afar, but applied in a simple and rational way.
From this work we produce our wines, with natural winemaking techniques. The varieties with which we work are all native: Barbera, Albana, pignoletto, montuni and Alionza.
The attention in the countryside is to achieve ripe, healthy and vital grapes. In the cellar we simply have to try not to ruin this miracle: we do not use yeast or sulphur dioxide in winemaking, we do not use any kind of preservative or additive during processing.
Culture and farming intersect and influence each other but what remains are the faces and gazes of those who worked with love on this project so that human fertility and well-being can finally coexist… Beyond the River .
